Every day is the same...

....well, when you are laid off it is! It really sucks being laid off. I should have lot's of free time and I should have lots of time to work on my own quilts and projects but I subject myself to mountains of work to do around the house. Maybe it is guilt. The feeling that if I am not working then I can at least keep the house spotless, clean out all the closets, plan meals and cook every day, etc. etc. I also have a customer quilt here that I SHOULD finish first before anything else. I don't know what is wrong with me. I need to get my crap together and make better use of my time....and do something other than housework and laundry! SHEESH!
We had a funeral this week. My neighbor and good friend Larry lost his brother on Sat. Only 36 yrs old and gone. What a shame. This same neighbor is raising his two young daughters by himself after his wife passed away two years ago from Leukemia. I have been babysitting for him in the mornings before his MIL comes over for the day. He leaves for work at 5:30am and it is pretty easy for me to tumble out of bed and go across the street. it also forces me to get out of bed early each day instead of sleeping until 10.
On the quilting note. I finally finished Brian's quilt and am half done with the customer quilt. I should finish today and be able to call her this evening...that is my goal anyway.

Glad you are back to blogging! I hope you can get yourself into a good groove soon. I think you should set aside specific times for the house stuff so that you make sure you leave time for quilting! When I hired a maid I learned that any dust bunny can wait 2 weeks to be cleaned. I decided that if I ever had to get rid of maid service that I would stick to the 2-week cycle and not worry about cleaning in between.

Welcome to the blogging world darlin'. Don't feel guilty about being laid off. That's not your fault. This dang economy is being rotten to lots of people. I think Vicki's right -- make some times specifically for quilting. I personally spend absolutely no time at all on cleaning the house. Looks like the place has been ransacked!

Only 21 UFO's??? There's something to keep you busy! :'P Try the fly lady...set a timer & at 15 mins stop. (yeah, I have trouble with that too, tehehe)

A clean house is definitely NOT a necessity in life. We all need some pet hair & dust bunnies around to keep us company. Being laid off is crummy enough without you having to feel guilty that you haven't cleaned or made dinner! Take some time for yourself.

Welcome to blogging!!! I used to feel guilty about the clean house thing, I know I don't stand a chance of having the whole house clean at once. So I plan blocks of time around my quilting. So I take a 15 minute break from quilting, I vacumm the living room, or sort the laundry, etc. Doing 3-4 breaks a day, gets me away from the quilting machine and gets those cleaning jobs done. On the closet front, I straighten one a week, and as soon as they have been all gone through, I start over, and if I happen to miss a week, there's always next week.
